derangedhyena-delphinidae:

Hopefully one day everyone, and not just the people who are paying attention, will see how disgusting cetacean captivity is.
If you go to these parks, you are part of why this happens.Regarding Kalia: yes, let’s celebrate another ruined life-to-be!  If this works out we’ll have a 4th-gen orca-shaped animal living a stunted life for our amusement! An accomplishment, surely!
It’s very important, because babies are cute, and people like babies, and we can take a lot of pictures of yet another cute baby swimming alongside the young mother in their featureless blue box! (We’ll soon run out of room for cute babies and have to move some of the older or less-useful whales elsewhere, but that doesn’t matter, they’re not related! It’s not like these are some of the most social creatures on the planet- they won’t mind!)
Those photos will match perfectly with their featureless, broken lives, where we’re told they have “fun” yet heaven forbid anyone— even for a moment —entertain the idea that they are not having fun. Because that’s anthropomorphism — and that’s bad, okay? What’s important is that you or your child sees a killer whale and becomes excited for a few minutes. As humans, we can’t possibly know if the whales are unhappy, so they’re clearly fine and happy! So don’t worry. Any strange behaviors you see, we can’t be absolutely certain that orcas don’t do this in the wild, so it’s okay! Perfectly expected. Plus, they are also clearly having fun! Because fun is all the whales have here. See the picture? The whale is happy and the sun is shining. Believe in your dreams or something. Buy a Shamu plush. Fun.
